Things to do near Llanbedrog beach

Things to do on the Wales Coast Path near Llanbedrog beach.

The multi coloured beach huts that form the backdrop to Llanbedrog beach are featured in many tourist brochures, but my favourite feature of Llanbedrog is the point where one emerges from the shade of the wooded dell to the open aspect of the glorious sandy beach.

The only drawback to Llanbedrog family friendly beach – the beach is often teeming with children – is that the dog restrictions are not enforced.

Walkers on the All Wales Path will find there are two routes to the beach from the top of Mynydd Tir-y-cwmwd (the rock headland), and the shortest of the two follows the irregular steps cut into the hillside.

If, like yours truly, you suffer knee problems I would recommend taking the longer route following the meandering path across the top of the headland and down to church lane (Lon nant Iago), finishing with a pleasant walk through the wooded dell to the beach.

If you are walking the All Wales Path in the clockwise direction and you have read of the Tin Man statue on the headland, do not bother to climb the several hundred steps to check it out. Give it a miss and take the easier route up the lane that runs past the church.
