Things to do on the Wales Coast Path near Holyhead Newry beach

This is a popular beach with the locals, and in 2012 a controversial proposal for a new Marina has threatened Newry Beach, and many residents from Holyhead are campaigning to have the development stopped in its tracks.

Tomb-stoning from the harbour wall, is a popular pastime, and indeed synchronised tomb-stoning takes place. But the danger is highlighted in the name.

Much safer to take a walk along the huge breakwater and watch the Ferries heading out across the Irish Sea to Ireland from Holyhead harbour.

Local points of interest for walkers on the All Wales Path include St Cybi’s Church and the remains of the Roman Fort close by ….well worth a visit and just a few yards from the path.
